Feelings of self doubt and inadequacy can cause us to regularly feel down about ourselves and the outlook of things. It can also lead us to disconnect from others and experiencing more loneliness. Getting help can help us develop a better relationship with ourselves and feel more calm and centered as we navigate difficult things.
-
Depression is complex. The things that are “supposed to” help us feel difficult to do when we are struggling. Battling thoughts and negative feelings is exhausting. Therapy can help address negative beliefs and stuck points that could be causing or exasperating depressive symptoms.
-
In order to try to protect us, our nervous system tends to lock in experiences that made us feel unsafe. Sometimes this leads to intrusive thoughts and upsetting feelings/ memories. We also may feel numb or disconnected to try to cope with these intense feelings. Therapy can help address the root of what’s keeping our nervous system on edge so we can feel more calm and confident as we navigate challenges and triggers.
On our life journey, we all need help at various stuck points to gain more clarity and find our way.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidenced based therapy that helps reduce distress linked to traumatic memories and stuck negative beliefs. It’s especially helpful for trauma, PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
-
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to nudge the brain’s natural healing process so your nervous system isn’t stuck in the past. It’s an effective way to get to the origin of undesired symptoms you’re having and helps shift the intensity of memories, negative beliefs, and body sensations.
The process goes through 8 phases that I can share more about in a consult call or during our sessions together.
Phase 1: History Taking & Treatment Planning:Phase 2: Preparation & Stabilization:
Phase 3-4: Desensitization & Reprocessing:
Phase 5: Installation
Phase 6: Body Scan
Phase 7-8: Closure & Reevaluation

Ketamine Assisted Therapy
-
Ketamine is an anesthetic agent commonly used in hospitals for general anesthesia.
In more recent years, promising antidepressant effects have been linked to ketamine treatments for depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction, and chronic pain.
-
Research is showing that ketamine surges a production of glutamate which seems to result in the antidepressant effects. Ketamine also seems to allow for regrowth of synapses while improving neuroplasticity.
Combining ketamine with therapy can be an effective way to help with treatment resistant depression and unhelpful thought processes.
